Introducing “Sharing Sentimental Journeys”
My name is Bob Jandoli. I was born in 1948 in Orange, New Jersey and raised in West Orange, New Jersey. I am a true “baby boomer”. Growing up in the 1950’s is something I wish everyone could have experienced. It was, for the most part, a time of peace in our land, and the birth of so many things that changed the world. Television and Rock & Roll were among the tops.
I lived in a small, middle class neighborhood in the West Orange Valley. Our block was full of kids, who ranged in age from five to fourteen. There were over twenty of us who stuck together and made the best of our youth. I married my childhood sweetheart, had two children, Michael and Michele. Michele was born mentally challenged, but I soon realized after birth, that we were blessed to have a Down syndrome daughter. Michele has always been an inspiration and a prime reason for my endeavors.
Because of my love for fictional classics and old movies, I have been interested in the lure of fantasy, as well as the reality that I experienced throughout the “nostalgic” years of my growing up. These are, and will be, the basis of the stories I will share with you. Growing up was an adventure where I came from, and now I think it’s time to share it with hRL readers, why it happened to me and why I was chosen to have these experiences. My belief is that “there are no coincidences in life”, the things that happen to us were always meant to happen and we can learn from them, whether it be a failure or success. It really didn’t matter. You will see in my stories here in “Sharing Sentimental Journeys” that it all happened for a reason. To learn!!
